Donate Today

The Capital City Museum relies on donations and gift shop sales to fund our events, programs, and exhibits. Donors who contribute to the museum’s financial well-being are acknowledged on our first-floor donor wall once they have passed $1,000 of giving.

Estate Planning - Bequests

Types of bequests include:
● Specific dollar amounts
● Specific assets (tangible personal property, real estate)
● All or a percentage of the remainder of your estate after all other obligations
● A contingent bequest, where the Museum becomes the beneficiary should the named be unable to accept.

Choosing to add language to your Will, via a codicil, or to rewrite your Will to include the museum, is one of the most significant practices of charitable giving. Wording which states the bequest has unrestricted use allows the museum staff and board to identify areas where your gift is useful and impacts the museum long-term.

A previous, significant bequest created the opportunity for a complete renovation of the Capital City Museum.

Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
Own a 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), or a profit sharing plan? Are you 73 years of age or older? You have an RMD.

If you’d require the income, up to $100,000 of your required withdrawal from your account, if donated, is a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). This excludes the donated amount from your taxable income, unlike other withdrawals from your IRA.

Some donors report that QCDs provide greater tax savings than cash donations.

Wilkinson Society Membership
For $50.00 a year, your membership includes first and discounted access to all museum events and programs. You receive 10% off all gift shop purchases. Best of all, your membership includes a free ornament selected and designed by Capital City Museum staff.
Members enjoy an exclusive, yearly reception held in the fall, which celebrates the success and joy of the museum throughout the year.

One-Time Donation
Choosing to give in support of a specific program, event, or exhibit provides the museum specific, designated resources to complete our mission. By giving in this manner, you’re ensuring we’re able to continue to elevate our offerings and provide a more enriching experience for our visitors.

You can donate online or via check mailed to the Capital City Museum, 325 Ann Street, Frankfort KY 40601.
